On April 11, Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials AG (MCAM, Lenzburg, Switzerland), a global chemistry and sustainable advanced materials company, and advisory and consultancy firm AMAC GmbH (Aachen, Germany), led by Dr. Michael Effing, managing director, have announced a cooperation to strengthen and develop both company’s composite business activities in Europe. The main focus of this partnership will be on the transportation, electrics and electronics sectors, as well as sports and consumer goods.

Said to be a pioneer of business development in thermoplastics, Dr. Effing has more than two decades of industry experience building up successful businesses. In the past 25 years, MCAM’s head of sales for composites, Rolf Dothagen, has also developed various thermoset businesses successfully and scaled them up. Now, with this investment and cooperation, he will now focus with MCAM on the sustainable thermoplastic composites.

Both companies are also looking forward to working together on the European rollout of MCAM’s KyronTEX business. This includes MCAM’s new high-volume €10 million KyronTEX production line that was inaugurated in Heinsberg, Germany, on May 10. The site will offer a capacity of up to 5,000 tons/year, and will initially support the production of KyronTEX for the global market.

KyronTEX textiles can be applied in the high-volume production of battery cases, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations body parts, delivery trucks and buses, helmets, e-bikes, train interiors and containers, to name just a few examples.
