McClean Anderson (Schofield, Wis., U.S.), a filament winding equipment manufacturer for the aerospace, defense industries, celebrating its 60th year anniversary, continues to innovate advanced computer controls for its filament winding machines, namely with the formal introduction and release of Ocelot.
The Ocelot machine control software is said to include all the benefits of its predecessor Flexwind, which McClean claims has been a solid and reliable machine control system for the past decade. Ocelot, built from the ground up using the latest hardware and software technologies, includes a high-performance, ultra‐compact control cabinet, industrial PC/PLC with Windows 10 OS, a 17″ high‐definition touch display featuring an intuitive and clean interface. It also caters to the green and sustainable IT industrial movement with a choice of low-energy consumption hardware.
Ocelot also incorporates EtherCAT-based communication, enabling users to have access to unlimited input/output possibilities, and the ability to communicate and integrate with external hardware through OPC. Ocelot additionally features industry-standard Safety Logic and rapid custom automation. The software seamlessly integrates with the McClean Anderson Digital‐Electronic Tensioner without the need for a separate PLC.
Further, provided with every Ocelot machine control is the Ocelot service tool. This is an easy‐to‐use, graphical backup and restore program tool for system data and associated configuration. If anything goes wrong with the system, the company says the data can be restored quickly and easily in a few minutes from the included backup tool, effectively reducing downtime and costly recovery work.
Ocelot is one of many new developments happening at McClean Anderson. The company is demonstrating Ocelot and Simwind2 at CAMX 2021.
