Biontec (St. Gallen, Switzerland) is a full service provider that produces CFRP components in high volume with the inclusion of fully integrated electronics. Recent developments have extended the company’s process capabilities to thermoplastic composites. The company helps customers with their products from the initial idea through series production, offering knowledge and ideas while focusing on specifications and the right production processes for products.
From the fiber to the finished part, Biontec says its process chain maximizes the use of the properties of material and enables freedom of design for molded composite parts. The bionic fiber placement and automated injection process using resin transfer molding (RTM) deliver great performance while being economically priced, according to the company. Additionally, the preforms can be used in a thermoplastic composite forming process, making use of advantages associated with thermoplastic matrix systems.
Biontec’s production processes are said to be able to handle components that need to be produce in both high and low volumes, replacing prepreg technology in low volume applications and forged or die-cast aluminum in high volume applications. The automation and short cycle time of Biontec’s process are also said to enable higher productivity, helping to reduce production costs.
Other applications include the replacement of milled aluminum or titanium fittings — making it well-suited for industries such as aerospace where performance and part consistency can be well met. The company says even tight regulations regarding flammability can be met.
Biontec also provides electronics integration into structural parts, enabling the use of standard conductors and connectors. The company says it can be applied to any electronic advice — whether it is connected by traditional wire or flex-print cables.
Whether customers need load path aligned fiber layup, complex 3D preforms or composite parts including attachments and finishing, Biontec says its automated processes promote good quality components that customers can rely on.
