Keynote, conference sessions and “Good Day, CAMX”

CAMX 2022 kicks off with the general session on Oct. 18, featuring keynote speaker Michael Steep, a renowned author, teacher and business leader. His presentation, “Supply Chain and the Role of Composites and Advanced Materials,” will address how to turn current supply chain disruption into new opportunities for the industry. The general session presentation will draw on Steep’s extensive first-hand experience and outline clear strategies and best practices to get ahead of disrupting supply chain challenges to achieve practical productivity gains and address critical problems that have emerged during the pandemic.

Also on Oct. 18, the CAMX Awards and ACMA Awards in Composites Excellence (ACE) will be announced. The CAMX Awards, announced during the general session, are given to two top entries that exemplify the CAMX themes of “Combined Strength” and “Unsurpassed Innovation.” ACMA will announce the winners of its six ACE awards in three categories at CAMX: Design, Manufacturing and Market Growth.

On Oct. 19 at 8 a.m. PT, CAMX is kicking off the second day by hosting a panel discussion called Good Day, CAMX. The discussion, “Take Off with Good Day CAMX and Re:Build Manufacturing,” explores a collaboration led by Re:Build Manufacturing (Framington, Mass., U.S.), along with Elroy Air (South San Francisco, Calif., U.S.) and Victrex (Bristol, R.I., U.S.) to produce next-generation aerospace-certified structures and lead the adoption of thermoplastic materials.

Featured panelists include Miles Arnone, CEO of Re:Build Manufacturing; Jay Wakenshaw, chief operation officer at Elroy Air; and Jonathan Sourkes, head of sales of Aero SBU, Victrex. Moderating the panel is Marcy Offner from Composites One (Schaumburg, Ill., U.S.).

Panel attendees can expect to learn:

  • How collaboration enabled the conversion of best-in-class polymer technologies via differentiated process conversion capabilities of high-performance structural solutions for next-generation air and cargo vehicles.
  • How showcasing the benefits of thermoplastics in a developing market segment benefits the manufacturer, but also leads to industry advancement.
  • Why collaboration breeds manufacturing success, including cost-competitive certified structures.

Beyond the featured events, the always robust conference schedule includes featured sessions, 25-minute technical paper presentations and 55-minute education sessions. Broad conference topics include additive manufacturing; advances in materials; bonding and joining; business, regulatory and workforce development; design, analysis and simulation; green and sustainability; manufacturing and processing technologies; market applications; and non-destructive evaluation and testing. Find the latest on the CAMX conference lineup at thecamx.org/conference-program.
